Emily Armenta, LEAD Teacher
Hello, my name is Emily Armenta, and I am teaching 4th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. This is my second year at COA and I am so happy to be here. I earned my bachelor’s degree as well as my teaching credential at California State University of Sacramento. I love teaching and especially love working with 4th grade students! When I am not in the classroom, I am either at a spin class, catching up on my t.v. shows, or spending time with friends.
Caleb Meyer
Hello! My name is Caleb Meyer and this is my fourth year teaching 4th grade at Community Outreach Academy. I graduated from California State University, Chico with a B.A. in Liberal Studies with an area of concentration in Mathematics. I stayed at Chico State to obtain my teaching credential. I am from a large family and am the oldest of 5 children. When I am not at work, you can find me running, partner dancing, working out, drinking coffee, or reading my favorite comic series, Calvin and Hobbes. My favorite part of teaching is building a connection with students and teaching them to love themselves and connect with others around them. My teaching philosophy is closest to the practices of Positive Discipline and using the Love and Logic approach, both of which put power in the hands of the students by giving them choices and opportunities to think for themselves. Students get to experience the joy of success that comes with good decisions and the responsibility that comes with making the wrong ones. I love COA because of the supportive administration team, the chances we have to improve at our practice, and the school’s chosen classroom management model, Capturing Kids’ Hearts. I am excited to work with you and your student this year!
Amy McBryde
Teaching is a family tradition. My grandmother, mother, father, husband and I are teachers! In addition, my niece and son are teachers! Lifelong learning is a passion for us. We enjoy travelling and reading. I grew up in the mountains about an hour from here. My family was very involved in the community so I am pleased to have found a school that values community involvement and moral values. My daughter Beth, is a personal clothing consultant. Our family enjoys camping, kayaking, hiking, and attending church. We have three cats, a dog and fish. Having children of my own, I am sensitive to the needs of working moms.
I have taught since 1990 which included Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, 3r Grade, 4th Grade, 6th Grade, and English and History at the middle school level. I have enjoyed the changes and challenges. However, I am thrilled to have 4th Grade again. I am energetic, fun, and committed to providing an enriching learning environment for each of my students. I set up my classroom to be supportive, safe, and active.
